Steve Sloan Elected NSSGA Chairman
Steve Sloan, President and CEO of Midwest Minerals, Inc., Pittsburg, Kansas has been elected the 2008 Chairman of the Board of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA). Steve Sloan has been an active member of NSSGA since 2003 serving on their Safety and Health Committee, Board of Directors and vice chairman of the association. Steve has also chaired our Kansas Aggregate Producers’ Association (KAPA) as well as currently serves on the KAPA Board.
“Steve is a dedicated leader in his state and community, being very involved in such organizations as the Pittsburg State University Foundation, the Kansas University Endowment Association, the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and others,” said NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson. Steve said, “that I am prepared for the hard work ahead and for the commitment it will require. One of my priorities this year is to stress the vital importance of safety. We just adopted a new safety pledge to help keep our focus. I think when safety is emphasized by management, it becomes a dominant factor of success in any company.”
Sloan has been married to his wife Becky for 24 years. He has three children, Charlie, 16, and twin daughters, Maggie and Katie, 14.
