KAPA&KRMCA Driver of the Year Winners
The association recognizes the KAPA & KRMCA Driver of the Year award winners.
Kansas Aggregate Producers’ Association (KAPA) and Kansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association (KRMCA) will present the first Driver of the Year award to two individuals. Each recipient will be awarded a $250 cash prize, Recognition at the KAPA-KRMCA 42nd annual joint convention award ceremony, personal plaque and company plaque as well as a Driver of the Year bumper sticker to display on their trucks.
Tom Stacey of Eakin Enterprises, Inc., Larned, KS, was named the winner of this year’s KAPA Driver of the Year award. Stacey has been driving a truck for Eakin Enterprises for eight and a half years. He drives a 1994 Peterbilt 375 truck and holds a “Class B” CDL and airbrake endorsement. He has been reported as punctual, is appreciated by customers and is even requested by them.
“Tom’s a great driver who is safe and takes care of his equipment. He is on time and his paperwork is flawless,” said Chad Eakin, President of Eakin Enterprises, Inc.
Scott Stromgren of Kansas Sand & Concrete, Inc., Topeka, KS was named the winner of this year’s KRMCA Mixer Driver of the Year. Stromgren has been driving for Kansas Sand & Concrete, Inc. for five and a half years. He drives a 2005 Kenworth Ready Mix truck and holds a “Class A” CDL endorsement. He has been recognized by contractors for his ability to maneuver any truck into any situation and his understanding of what contractors want. Scott was also chosen for his work ethic and attendance.
“Scott maintains a perfect attendance through his willingness to work no matter what. Whether the weather conditions are bad or there are opportunities for layoff time, he is always working,” said Dan Woodward, Manager of Kansas Sand & Concrete, Inc.
The Driver of the Year award is chosen based on performance from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. This includes employment for at least six months, perfect attendance, no drug or alcohol convictions, no at fault accidents, no rejected or returned loads, attitude regarding safety and proper truck maintenance.
