Midyear 2009 Recap
July 23-26, 2009, KAPA-KRMCA headed west for the annual Midyear Meeting.
On July 23-26, 2009, the KAPA-KRMCA along with the Kansas Asphalt Pavement Association packed their bags and headed west for another adventure at the Keystone Resort in Keystone, CO., for their annual summer meeting. Mid Year 2009 started out slow with low registration numbers but soon increased with over 95 attendees from the KAPA-KRMCA.
The annual event started Thursday with a relaxing evening as members arrived at Keystone and enjoyed a welcome reception while registering.
Friday morning came quickly with the KAPA-KRMCA Director’s Breakfast Meeting followed by the Board of Director’s Meeting. Afterwards members competed in the Gordon Byler Memorial Golf Tournament, (see winners on next page), while non golfers went off road and enjoyed Colorado’s backcountry on ATV’s. A reception and buffet dinner on Keystone Lake, Lakeside Village ended the evening. Members enjoyed the cool evening canoeing, paddle boating, kayaking and feeding the fish.
Saturday morning started out with a continental breakfast followed by a general session, presented by Catherine Patrick, P.E. KDOT. She reviewed the CTP, Federal Highway Program and KDOT issues. She also unveiled projects, which will be completed in 2010-2013. Afterwards, business meetings for each association continued. The KAPA-KRMCA heard from Michael Krough, Denver District Manager for Caterpillar. He provided insight for the economic state of the construction industry. It was a very informative session. Following the business meetings, members ended the evening with a reception and closing banquet & awards ceremony. Assorted mini sweets were served at the dessert banquet next to the fire pit at Edgewater Café.
Mid Year 2009 was yet, another successful event and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
