This program requires a working knowledge of the following ASTM Standards: C61-Capping Cylindrical Concrete Specimens C1231-Unbonded Caps for Concrete Cylinders C39-Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens C78-Flexural Strength of Concrete ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements: 1) A passing grade on the ACI written examination; and 2) Successful completion of the ACI performance examination.


WRITTEN EXAM: One-hour, “closed book” exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions, To pass the written examination, you must (a) get at least 60% correct for each of the required standards; and (b) get a minimum score of 70% overall. PERFORMANCE EXAM: Requires actual demonstration of six of the required ASTM Standards plus a verbal description of Sampling, ASTM C 172. The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform or describe all of the required procedures for each standard. Also is a “closed book” exam. RE-


EXAMINATION: Failure of the written exam requires a re-examination on the entire written exam. Failure of two (2) or more Standards on the performance exam requires a re-examination on the entire performance exam. Failure of only one (1) Standard on the performance exam requires a re-examination on only that Standard which was failed.


RECERTIFICATION: This certification is valid for five (5) years, and requires successful completion of both the written and performance examinations for recertification.
